ONE YEAR CLASS (Prerequisite: Must have taken and passed Algebra 1) :
Geometry, though in the family of Math, is actually a study of logic, engaging students to think critically and sequentially. Teaching Textbooks Geometry 2.0 is a complete full-year core math curriculum which uses a traditional Euclidean approach, beginning with a chapter on logic and reasoning, then moving on to definitions, postulates, and theorems. Formal proofs are introduced very early while analytical geometry using the coordinate plane is reserved for the end of the course. Geometry, as a study of logic, focuses on shapes and incorporates algebra as it applies to them. Teaching Textbooks is outstanding not only because it puts an emphasis on problems found on the SAT and ACT exams, but it uses a review method that causes students to become stronger at solving day by day.” This will be a rigorous class with class time that will focus on previewing weekly lessons, doing practice problems and reinforcing the logical tools necessary to step through proofs. Homework will be assigned and must be completed on paper and corrected by parent each week to receive homework credit. There will also be at home tests and occasional in-class quizzes to assess student’s comprehension and mastery.

Please note: Students can take Geometry either before or after Algebra 2.
